Tales focused on villainesses are rapidly rising to get probably the most popular genres within the webcomic industry, and there is a reason behind it.
A few of these tales are a subgenre of isekai in which the female protagonist dies and finds themselves transported in to the body from the villainess in the book these were studying. Others possess the villainess reincarnated a couple of years before their untimely dying, using the protagonist going to avoid meeting exactly the same ending. Among the greatest webcomics platforms worldwide, Tappytoon hosts numerous such works like Father, I’m not going this Marriage, What Must Be Done to become a Villainess and The Villainess Lives Again. Readers Appreciate Fresh Tales
While villainess tales seem to be the present trend, Bang believes the passion and fervour for these kinds of tales originate from “originality from story and character building.” Bang stated, “I do not think it’s restricted to a particular genre or trend […] Exactly why K-webtoons are extremely popular now would be that the tales are all new and fresh, that readers haven’t seen before.” Woo agreed and added, “Tales about villainesses, royalty, nobleman, queens, etc., will be around. I do not think they’re going away.”
Woo had theories on which genres might see a boost in recognition. “I’m sure [Boys Love] and [Women Love] are rising and can gain much more ground. Action and Fantasy titles generally have lots of world-building, and those which do rid of it will mix to other mediums, for example animations and games like Solo Leveling. But soon, the dramas having a hint of fantasy or K-dramas will dominate more rapidly.”
