Within the Trigger pantheon of artists, Akira Amemiya may not be too-known a reputation as Hiroyuki Imaishi or Yoh Yoshinari, but hopefully that may change come next spring. Amemiya’s next directorial work sees his previous works, SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon, combine for Trigger’s newest film release, Gridman World.
On Sunday, November 20, Trigger released a brand new, 30-second PV for that film and announced that it’ll hit theaters in Japan on March 24, 2023. Formerly, the show was known as “Gridman X Dynazenon,” with “Gridman World” seeming is the label for that conjoined world the two series share.
When Worlds Collide
The PV is brief but packed with sufficient to obtain any lover from the preceding two series excited for which would be to come, mainly spotlighting the coming back cast. Because of the titular Gridman‘s prominence within the namesake, there’s quite a lot of screen time provided to SSSS.Gridman‘s figures, namely the protagonist, Yuta Hibiki.
Yuta, Rikka, and Shou, the initial trio from 2018’s Gridman, are in the forefront, juxtaposed with imagery of Junk, the pc terminal that permitted Yuta in becoming Gridman. But because the background music increases in intensity, a mystery event erupts, thrusting the youthful trio into action. It is not until midway with the trailer that the character from 2021’s Dynazenon bakes an appearance.
How a trailer is edited, many of the link between both of these tales and the way they intersect remains murky and lots of shots feel edited carefully to prevent seeing figures from both shows together. When audiences do see Dynazenon‘s cast, they appear a great deal more happy and never quite in as dire a condition his or her counterparts.
Two posters were released plus the PV, both spotlighting the main protagonists from both shows. The very first spotlights Yuta and Rikka together, as the second shows Yomogi and Yume grabbing each other in midair. It can’t be unthinkable to anticipate another trailer soon that’s the reverse of the one, spotlighting Dynazenon‘s cast.
The Storyline Thus Far & Its Implications
The Next Contains Spoilers For SSSS.Gridman and SSSS.Dynazenon.
The ending of SSSS.Gridman was a significant shock somewhere given its harrowing implications concerning the lives of their figures and the strength of that show’s antagonist Akane. However, when Dynazenon began a couple of years later, despite clearly discussing a world, lots of individuals implications were offer along side it, irrelevant towards the story in the lead.
Gridman says the town because it existed towards the figures would be a simulation produced by Akane Shinjo to flee from her real-existence problems. She was simply manipulated by Alexis Kerib into creating Kaijuu to wreak havoc until Rikka and also the Gridman Alliance saved her, and Akane quickly exited the storyline, prepared to embrace her real existence.
The charm of Gridman and Dynazenon‘s storytelling is it appears you prioritized figures most of all, and it is world while compelling, remains mysterious. It is a carrot for that audience to chase should they would like to, but ultimately not as essential as the main purpose of going through the figures as well as their personal motivations inside a attempted and true genre template.
The primary figures from Gridman never made an appearance in Dynazenon, but Anti and Anosillus appear older, implying that point has transpired between both series. When the figures from both series are likely to meet and fight as you within the movie, that begs lots of questions regarding the character of every show’s setting and just how exactly they’ll combine.
Possibly the film’s very purpose is to reply to these burning questions, but whether it does not, it’ll hopefully generate a story just like compelling because the two shows before it. In the short teaser released, Yuta appears to become taking center stage, much more emotional compared to audience has witnessed him formerly.
There’s not a confirmation of the worldwide release for Gridman World, but hopefully, it will receive a theatrical release in the western world. While may possibly not get just as much hype as Trigger’s original film Promare from 2019, it deserves that hype. Amemiya is among the most promising artists in a studio already dripping with talent.
